This is a highly unique program dealing with recruitment. It is not specifically designed for the agency recruiting officer, rather, for everyone (sworn and civilian) and provides information on what they might do in the furtherance of the departmental recruiting function to attract potentially highly qualified personnel. The seminar will offer participants an understanding of fundamentals of recruiting and the importance of the recruiting mission. Attendees will learn the importance for all members of the agency to participate in recruiting and effective tools for aiding the unit concerned with that mission. Topics to be covered include: (1) importance of effective recruiting; (2) methods to become an effective, but unofficial recruiter; (3) basic instruction on EEOC and ADA laws and their application in the hiring process; (4) unique recruiting challenges faced by small and mid-sized police agencies; and (5) how effective recruiting impacts all employees within the agency. INSTRUCTOR: Corporal Maria Parker, Administrative Services Unit, Greenbelt Police Department, Greenbelt, Maryland. Corporal Parker regularly offers programs of this nature to all personnel within her agency.

DATE/LOCATION/TIME: Seminar will be conducted April 28-29, 2008 at the Dover City Police Department, 400 South Queen Street, Dover, Delaware. Class will be in session 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.daily.

FEE: $295 per person . Agencies enrolling three or more personnel in this program are entitled to claim a 15% team discount.
