OVERSEEING THE OPERATION OF A GENERAL CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS UNIT: A SEMINAR FOR DETECTIVE SUPERVISORS
November 19-20, 2007
An all-new two-day seminar designed specifically for supervisors of general criminal investigation or detective units. The program will explore various components of supervision and managing such a unit and consider how these might be enhanced within the units. Topics include: (1) responsibilities of supervising a squad of investigators; (2) reviewing and assigning cases; (3) follow-up case management; (4) use of available resources; (5) procedures on crime scene and evidence handling; (6)grid systems; (7)data fact sheets and case summaries; (8)evaluating investigators; (9) check list of investigator's responsibilities; (10) standard operating procedures in general investigations; (11) sworn/taped recorded statements; and (12) formats for interviewing and interrogations. INSTRUCTOR: Sara L. Times, Homicide Unit, Miami-Dade Police Department, Miami, Florida (retired).

DATE/LOCATION/TIME: Seminar will be conducted November 19-20, 2007 at the FDLE Tampa Bay Operations Center, 4211 North Lois Avenue, Tampa, Florida. Class will be in session 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

FEE: $295 per person. Agencies enrolling three or more personnel in this program may claim a 15% team discount.
