OF DEPARTMENTAL OR COMMUNITY-BASED SEXUAL HARASSMENT

An
all-new program designed specifically for internal affairs personnel. This program
will focus exclusively on procedures in the investigation of complaints centering
around internal and external sexual harassment. The seminar should be especially
helpful to personnel with little or no previous instruction on this specialized area
of internal affairs. Topics to be covered include: (1) basics of EEO law and theories
of discrimination; (2) differences between an internal and external sexual harassment
complaint; (3) elements of a harassment claim; (4) investigative interviewing and
the investigative plan; (5) types of interview question; (6) gathering and analyzing
evidence; (7) role of the complainant's attorney during the investigation; and (8)
types of relieve and mitigation. INSTRUCTOR: Rob Hawkins, Commanding Officer,
Internal Affairs Unit, Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, West Palm Beach, Florida

DATE/LOCATION/TIME: Seminar will be conducted May 20-21,
2008 at the West Palm Beach Police Department, 600 Banyan Road, West Palm Beach,
Florida. Class will be in session 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day.
FEE:
$295 per person. Agencies enrolling three or more personnel are entitled to a 15%
team discount.
