HANDLING AND STORING HAZARDOUS MATERIALS IN THE EVIDENCE/PROPERTY ROOM
May 5-6, 2008
A seminar designed to acquaint property room technicians and managers with the proper recognition, handling and storage of hazardous materials including explosives, energetic and radioactive materials, bio hazards, chemical munitions, and other materials which might constitute a danger while still maintaining their evidentiary value. The seminar will also include procedures for packaging and the safe and legal storing of these items. Topics include: (1) what is a hazardous material and its possible effect upon exposure to both officer and property technician; (2) consideration of hazardous materials in normal evidence which may or may be noticed at the time of seizure; (3) methods of packaging and storage so that the integrity and chain of command might be maintained as well as to allow for the safety of any person who may come into contact with such items; (3) personal safety measures to insure the health of the property room custodian; (4) formulation of procedures for collection, recovery and storage of hazardous material; and (5) use of professional assistance in the storage and handling of hazardous materials. Seminar will be conducted May 5-6, 2008 in Classroom A, Anacostia Operations Facility, U.S. Park Police, 1901 Anacostia Drive, Washington, D.C. Class will be in session 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each program day.

FEE:
$295 per person. Agencies enrolling three or more personnel in this program are entitled to claim a 15% team discount.
