This two-day seminar is for officers
and newly assigned investigators who have little training in the preliminary and
follow-up investigations of residential and commercial burglaries. Topics to be covered
include: (1) burglary defined by State Statute, (2) responsibilities during the preliminary
response, (3) the follow-up investigation, (4) separating items for crime scene processing,
(5) area canvassing, (6) mapping and trends, (7) cold case information, (8) responding
to "hot grids," (9) master case clearances and ethical concerns, (10) preparing
case files for court, (11) working with both prosecution and the defense, (12) testifying,
and (13) closing the case. INTRUCTOR: Captain Bill Press, Crime Scene
Investigations Bureau, Miami-Dade Police Department, Miami, Florida.

Seminar will be conducted October 24-25, 2007 at the St. Augustine
Police Department, 151 King Street, St. Augustine, Florida. Class will be in session
8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day.
FEE
$295 per person. Agencies
enrolling three or more persons in this program may claim a 15% team discount.
