PLANNING FOR AND OVERSEEING THE TRAINING OF COMMUNICATION
CENTER PERSONNEL
January 14-15, 2008
An all-new program designed specifically
for personnel employed within communication centers and who have as one or the main
function of their position, the responsibility of planning and implementing on-going
training for call-takers, dispatchers, and other staff. Topics include: (1) identifying
training needs through observation and discussion with administration and staff;
(2) securing feedback at staff meetings; (3) effective supervision of trainees during
orientation and extended formal training on the floor and at the consoles; (4) determining
program content for in-service training and methods how best to impart the information
in a clear and meaningful manner; (5) maintenance of performance appraisals, examinations
and lesson outlines; (6) policies and procedures for dissemination of training materials
within and outside the agency; (7) computer and online instruction as opposed to
the formal classroom setting; and (8) identifying and utilizing various training
resources who might offer training that you or your staff cannot. Note: This is not
a program in teaching methodology; rather it will be presented on an administrative
level and will consider topics which need to be explored and discussed before the
classroom stage is actually implemented. This program is one that is not usually
presented for communication center personnel and should serve to assist individuals
charged with overseeing training to gain insight and understanding on the many facets
of their role and how they might approach these responsibilities with greater enthusiasm
to do the job in a more efficient manner. INSTRUCTOR: Donna Ross, Supervisor

DATE/LOCATION/TIME
Program
will be conducted January 14-15, 2008 at the Sebastian Police Department, 1201 Main
Street in Sebastian, Florida. Class will be in session 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each
day.
FEE
$295 per person. Agencies that enroll three or more personnel
may claim a 15% team discount..

suggested that you make reservations no less than one month prior to the opening
session of the program.
