PATHOLOGY OF BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA, KNIFE, AND GUNSHOT WOUNDS
January 30-31,2008
A two-day program designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the principles involved in documenting, investigating, and identifying blunt force, sharp force, and gunshot wounds and injuries. The program is appropriate for all levels of health care professionals, law enforcement investigators, and mortuary affairs personnel. Topics include: (1) physics and mechanisms of blunt trauma, knife injuries and gunshot wounds; (2) categorization of blunt force trauma injuries; (3) blunt force injuries to various body areas; (4) sharp edged injuries; (4) forensic issues regarding sharp edged injuries; (5) general issues regarding gunshot wounds; and (6) forensic issues regarding gunshot wounds. NOTE: All of the topics will be illustrated with actual case photographs, some of which are of a highly graphic nature. INSTRUCTOR: Dr. Michael E. Berkland, Certified Senior Crime Scene Analyst and former President of the International Association of Identification. He currently serves as President, Forensic Puzzle Investigations, Pensacola, Florida

DATE/LOCATION/TIME: Seminar will be conducted January 30-31, 2008 at the Miami-Dade Metropolitan Police Institute on the campus of Nova Southeastern University, 8585 South West 124 Avenue in Miami, Florida. Specific directions will be provided on confirmation letter. Class will be in session 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day.

FEE: $295 per person. Agencies enrolling three or more personnel in this program may claim a 15% team discount.
