SHOOTING INCIDENT RECONSTRUCTION
May 19-20, 2010
A basic seminar designed for forensic firearm and toolmark examiners, crime scene technicians, police investigators, attorneys, and insurance investigators. Program will focus on the protocols, methodology and usage of various techniques and equipment that might be used in the processing of crime scenes where there has been a shooting. Topics include: (1) determining the class characteristics of evidence items such as shot shell casings, bullets, and cartridge cases; (2) trajectory/penetration determinations using various mediums including wood, sheet metal, glass, double-wall sheet rock and vehicles; (3) methods and types of equipment used to determine trajectory such as wood/metal dowel rods, string, trajectory kits with lasers and chemical tests; (4) muzzle-to-target distance determinations consisting of gunshot residues and shotgun pattern analysis; (5) possible ejection patterns of cartridge cases and shot shell casing; (6) courtroom testimony pertaining to shooting reconstruction; and (7) tips on report writing and documentation. DATE/LOCATION/TIME: Program will be conducted May 19-20, 2011 at the Public Safety Education and Training Center, 6852 4th Street in Sykesville, Maryland. Class will be in session 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

FEE: $295 per person.
