ROLE AND FUNCTION OF THE LEAD INVESTIGATOR IN A SEXUAL CRIME CASE

This seminar is designed primarily for detectives and/or investigators with relatively little experience in serving as the lead or prime investigator in sexual crimes with emphasis on rape and date rape.. Topics to be covered include: (1) types of evidence; (2) essential equipment utilized by the investigator; (3) responsibilities of the team leader; (4) delegating team member assignments; (5) coordinating ancillary services; (6) basic search stages; (7) assessing physical trauma; (8) stranger cases; and (9) identifying, collecting, and packaging evidence.
