POLICE RECRUITMENT: PERSPECTIVES ON THE PROCESS

An all-new, two-day seminar for persons new or with little experience in overseeing their agency's recruitment process. The program is ideal for those who have taken the previously offered, "Pre-Employment Background Investigation" seminar. It goes beyond that program's content to explore in-depth important aspects and topics specifically concerned with the recruiting and hiring of suitable candidates for departmental openings. Topics include: (1) the changing workforce in the United States; (2) federal hiring law and EEC guidelines; (3) management strategies for staffing and supervising a recruitment unit; (5) using the Internet; (6) sample advertisements and scripts; (7) minority hiring and affirmative action programs; and (8) experiences of successful and unsuccessful recruitment campaigns. INSTRUCTOR: Ron Cave, Chief, Office of Training and Professional Standards, Department of Environmental Protection, Tallahassee, Florida.

DATE/LOCATION/TIME
Program will be conducted March 12-13, 2012 at the Florida State University Police Department, 830 West Jefferson Street in Tallahassee, Florida. Class will be in session 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each program day.
