ENHANCING POSITION SKILLS OF THE DEPARTMENTAL TRAINING OFFICER
October 17-18, 2011
A two-day seminar for either law enforcement or corrections training officers. The seminar will focus on ways to understand the training role and how to better manage a training operation. This is not a course in how to instruct. Instead, it will present ways to improve the training operation from an administrative perspective. Topics include: (1) establishing course objectives; (2) selecting appropriate instructors; (3) criteria for selecting outside vendors for training; (4) sending personnel to training at other locations; (5) record keeping and maintaining training documents; (6) budgeting for training; (7) determining present and future departmental training needs; and (8) planning and improving the field training program. INSTRUCTOR: Lt. Rick Morrison, Commanding Officer, Roanoke Police Academy, Roanoke, Virginia

DATE/LOCATION/TIME
Program will be conducted October 17-18, 2011, at the Richmond Police Academy, 1201 West Graham, Richmond, Virginia. Class will be in session 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each program day.

FEE: $295 per person
